White Wolf Cafe is Orlando’s secret treasure. The decor is super eclectic, the staff is great, and the food is fantastic to the max. On my first visit, I think everything we ate had lobster… and I’m not really a lobster fan. The Lobster Mac & Cheese is the 2nd best Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had (next to Max Brenner in NYC). It’s a little pricey, but the lobster was very generously portioned throughout the noodlie pasta paradise. The Fried Lobster Sandwich, and the lobster dip (appetizer) seemed to be a huge hit as well. I really want to go back for breakfast one day to see if every meal can be as fantastic as dinner. Want to come?

I love White Wolf. I have dined here since moving here in the early 1990′s. Back then it was more of an antique store, where you wound yourself through the displays of antiques to grab a table and enjoy some great food in a bohemian atmosphere. White Wolf has managed to hold onto that “funky” vibe while growing up a bit over the years. Now, the space is open, not cluttered, and no maneuvering is needed to get to your seat. Still, I remember those days fondly. :)
The food is still cooked well and very tasty, with so many options from hummus to chicken salad to sandwiches to full entrees. Great options for picky eaters, vegetarians, kids, parents, single people…you get it. But among the cool changes is breakfast being offered 7 days a week. And the offerings are from the basic eggs to the full blown Eggs Benedict. Yes!
I ended up enjoying the Crab Cakes Benedict on a Wednesday where plans had changed and my day was free…as in, off from work. Mango Mimosa? Um, yes, please. Random Wednesday, 7:30 AM and I’m happy! My friend enjoyed the quiche, which has always been a favorite. A nice wedge of perfectly cooked quiche, served with a mix of sweet and red potatoes that were sauteed with onions. Yum! I chose the same potatoes with my Eggs Benedict, which was cooked perfectly. The crab cakes were made with more crab than filler, a major plus! The eggs were perfectly poached and the Hollandaise sauce was delish. There were also avocado slices on there, which I gave to my friend who is an avocado junky.
If you are in the Ivanhoe Row area, be sure to stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is live music some evenings, wine specials and lots of good people dining in or serving you. Always a nice meal and a nice time, so put it on your list to check out or revisit.

Newly remodeled and looking chic as ever, I had a late breakfast here about two weeks ago. I ordered the Ferncourt B&B Omelet. It was an absolutely divine dish filled with raspberry preserves and whipped cream cheese topped with toasted sliced almonds for a truly delicious dish. Accoutrements included the savory home fries and a fresh biscuit. I couldn’t resist ordering a side of sausage gravy to douse my flaky biscuit with, either. The staff was very friendly and always attentive. What I liked most was that if our waitress was busy with a fussy table the surrounding staff wouldn’t hesitate to come check on us. I’d say A+ service. Near the end of our brunch Michael, who I later discovered was the owner, sat down and had a conversation with us regarding how we enjoyed the food, service and the new decor. It’s great that he takes a very involved role in making everyone’s experience pleasant. With everything said, I will be coming back for lunch in the near future!

While cars are whizzing by in insane I4 traffic, a little street across from a lake offers eclectic antique shops and the White Wolf Cafe. I had a icy cold Sam Adams after getting over my disappointment that the local ale on the menu was no longer available. The portobello mushroom sandwich came with an overabundance of vinegar flavored red pepper and artichoke hearts. Flavor would have been better with roasted red peppers offset with a light acid from the artichoke hearts. The coleslaw, made with red cabbage and a sprinkle of raisins was the star of the dish. I definitely will return for the food and the neighborhood atmosphere.
